Bringing Britain’s Finest Working Heritage Vehicles Back to Life
Every vehicle that passes through the Matador HQ workshop has a story. Some arrive after decades of hard work in forestry or on farms. Others come from private collections, long dormant and in need of careful recommissioning. A few arrive as little more than a chassis and cab.
Whether your AEC vehicle needs a minor mechanical repair, a recommission after years of storage, or a ground-up full restoration, we have the skills, the tools, and the experience to get the job done right. Our workshop in Suffolk serves as the central hub for all restoration and repair work, welcoming vehicles from across the UK and beyond.
Many of these vehicles are now decades old, and sourcing parts can be challenging. Through years of building specialist knowledge and stock, we can help customers locate hard-to-find components and, where necessary, restore or refurbish original parts to keep vehicles operational.

We offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to the specific demands of AEC vehicles:
- Full vehicle restoration
- Engine overhauls and rebuilds
- Compressor rebuilds
- Braking system inspection, repair and replacement
- Transmission and gearbox servicing
- Electrical system repairs and rewiring
- Chassis inspection and structural repair
- Bodywork repair and cab restoration
- General servicing and maintenance
We understand that moving a non-running or delicate vehicle is not always straightforward. That’s why we offer both workshop-based and on-site repair services. If your Matador can’t come to us, we can come to your vehicle. We work closely with trusted specialist haulage companies to arrange transportation safely and reliably. Covered and non-covered storage is also available at our premises while work is underway.
